Behind The Tide is a little alternative, a little hip, a little cruisey, a lot of fun. The film explores surfings nostalgia with the renaissance of longboarding, single fins, alaias, hand planing and tandem surfing. From shapers to photographers, it documents how art and a love of riding waves transcends both geographical and cultural boundaries. Filmed in beautiful locations in Australia, Cornwall, and France, Behind The Tide provides an insight into creative individuals who have forged a living through their passion for surfing. Amongst the talented cast we have Neal Purchase Jr, Dane Peterson, Thomas Bexon, James Parry, Joe Davies, Nathan Oldfield, Tom Wegener and many more. The world’s best surfers might have shortboarding down to a T but throw them in the water with an alaia or a tandem board and the odds are against them, This group of talented individuals can ride just about anything that floats, and occasionally things that don’t. If you’ve ever tried the Alaia you’ll know how hard it is, Tom Wegener is the master, in this film he tears apart waves like he is riding a shortboard, a fascinating watch to say the least.
