Terry Chung Glides Like A Bird On The Hydrofoil Surfboard

If you’ve never seen the hydrofoil surfboard before, you’re probably thinking Terry Chung has super special powers and you’re probably wondering WTF this things is, the best explanation we could find was from our good friends at Wikipedia (always there to lend a helping hand).

‘A foilboard or hydrofoil board is a surfboard with a hydrofoil (large fin type thingy) that extends below the board into the water. This design causes the board to leave the surface of the water at various speeds.’ – Wiki guy.

The hydrofoil board isn’t a new invention, it’s been around since the 90’s and when he’s not stand up paddle boarding in the nude, waterman Laird Hamilton doesn’t mind a thrash on the Hydrofoil. The board gained mass attention after it’s staring role in Bruce Brown’s Step Into Liquid 12 years back featuring Laird gliding through solid waves in Hawaii.

We thought we’d seen the last of the Hydrofoil board until Godfather of surf films Jack McCoy brought it to our attention in his latest film ‘A Deeper Shade Of Blue’ – this time with help from a little band called Coldplay and the foil skills of Terry Chung, the trio made magic happen, watch in the video above.
