Weird Waves Of The World – Gas Chambers

You’re flying down the line either to go to the skies, race through the tube or lay down the biggest larry the world has ever seen….BOOM! You’re thrown into the air and your limbs nearly rip off!

Welcome back to Weird Waves of the World, we head to Puerto Rico to surf the back washy barrels of ‘Gas Chambers’ with Dusty Payne.

Gas Chambers Beach is located in the town of Aguadilla, on the west coast of Puerto Rico. Gas Chambers only breaks about 6 times a year, if you happen to score it whilst it’s on, you will have the ride of a lifetime in a tube that actually breaks in a oblong square shape due to the fact it throws the lip way-out with insane force.

So why is it among our Weird Waves of The World? There is a crazy backwash and if it hits the tube while your in it, kiss your ass goodbye….Bodyboarders love it, they can navigate through the backwash and pull up into the tube, surfers on the other hand, see Dusty below.

How to avoid the backwash? Go the first wave of the set, because the backwash goes under the subsequent waves and creates giant wobbly barrels over the super hard-packed sand and rocky bottom.
