Tragic news has just rocked the BMX world, X-Games gold medalist Dave Mirra has died of an apparent suicide.

Dave was famous for his X-Games achievements – once had the record for the most X Games medals, he was the first park rider to land a double backflip in competition and in 2000 won ESPN’s BMX rider of the year. He also had his own signature Playstation Game ‘Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX’.

The 41 year old’s body was found in his truck in Greenville, North Carolina Thursday with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Mirra leaves a wife and two kids.

This sad news follows the death of MTB champion Kelly McGarry just a couple of days ago.

Rest In peace Dave Mirra, you will be forever missed.
